Irish Lace Crochet Trellis
5.5’w x 7.5’h
This installation was part of Art in the Orchard 2025, located at Park Hill Orchard in Easthampton, MA. Traditional Irish lace patterns-once reserved for delicate clothing and fine linens take on new life in nature. Using mason's twine, these crocheted squares transform a traditional textile into an outdoor sculpture that breathes and moves with the garden.
The lace panels cast intricate shadows that shift with the sun throughout the day. Delicate dragonfly motifs appear to lift off the surface in mid-flight, where they would normally be anchored.
This piece bridges interior and exterior worlds—bringing the intimacy of handwork into the landscape, where wind, light, and living growth become part of the composition.
